NEWCASTLE Basketball is excited to announce a two-year partnership with McDonald’s Australia as the new naming-rights sponsor of the Newcastle Falcons NBL1 men’s team.
With the iconic Golden Arches emblazoned across jerseys, the team will be known as the McDonald’s Newcastle Falcons for the 2024 and 2025 NBL1 East seasons. Andrew Roseworne, Licensee for McDonald’s Australia, believed the new partnership with the Falcons’ senior men’s team was a natural progression for the quick-service restaurant’s long-standing support for Newcastle Basketball’s junior club and representative programs.

“Macca’s is committed to playing an active role in local communities and supporting sporting teams and clubs that make a positive difference to local areas,” Mr Roseworne said.
“We have a long-standing relationship with Newcastle Basketball, supporting grassroots and representative basketball for many years, and this is the perfect next step for us with the club.
“We’re looking forward to seeing the team take to the court next year with a full house of fans and customers.”
Several Falcons players, including newly re-signed NBL1 All-Star Five forward Ryan Beisty, volunteered on McHappy Day this year at the McDonald’s Hexham restaurant. McHappy Day is the largest annual fundraiser for Ronald McDonald House Charities, to help support for seriously ill or injured children and their families across Australia. That gave some excited children their first taste of basketball on portable hoops set up near the restaurant.
“McDonald’s is such an iconic brand, and they’re great supporters of community sport here in Australia,” Newcastle Basketball General Manager Matt Neason said.
“For us at Newcastle Basketball, Macca’s have been a great partner sponsoring our McDonald’s Summer Junior Competition, which caters for 2200 kids every summer.
“They’re uniform sponsors of our junior rep teams, and this is now the next step in that pathway as naming-rights sponsor of the McDonald’s Newcastle Falcons. It has a really great ring to it, and we’re thrilled to be partnering with them to be bringing great quality basketball to Newcastle.
“The great thing about working with Andrew and McDonald’s, they’ve loved the growth they’ve seen over the last few years.
“They’re really keen to be part of the story as we continue to improve our programs and our products and grow the sport moving into a new facility into the future, and now with this partnership, delivering one of the best NBL1 programs in all of Australia.”
