Newcastle Basketball is pleased to announce the return of American import Leo O’Boyle for the 2025 NBL1 season.
The 6’7 forward, joined the Falcons for the last eight games of the 2024 season, averaging 17.8 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game.
Prior to joining the Falcons, O’Boyle played college basketball at Lafayette University, where he was teammates with Newcastle junior Myles Cherry. The Pennsylvania native also played his final season at Penn State University.
O’Boyle is currently playing in the Swiss Basketball League for Pully Lausanne averaging 10.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game.
The Falcons are looking forward to the return of Leo for the upcoming season.
“I’m excited to have Leo back for the 2025 season and I know the rest of the coaching staff and playing group are equally pumped,” Falcons Head Coach, Josh Morgan said.
“Leo brings aggression and competitiveness to everything he does, and we will be looking to utilise his offensive output as soon as he gets into town.”
“Just as important is his attitude and personality away from the court. He was very low maintenance, the kids loved him and our crowd enjoyed that personality as well,” Morgan added.
The Falcons men and women will play their 2025 season home opener on Saturday 29 March against the Sydney Comets at Newcastle Basketball Stadium. See the full 2025 NBL1 East Draw HERE.
