The 2023 Newcastle Basketball AGM was held on Wednesday 10 May.  Newcastle Basketball would like to thank retiring Board members Kristi Faber, Chris Brown, Kelly Deakin, Kim Hartley, and David Shanley for their contributions, and would particularly like to acknowledge outgoing President Kristi Faber for her long-standing guidance and stewardship. Kristi has been a member of the Board for eight years and President for the past five.  Kristi shared that she was proud of the Association’s achievements, and the position it presently finds itself in.  “The stadium is operating at capacity, we have a fantastic location and funding towards our new stadium, and over half a million dollars amassed in the bank. The growth and success the Association has experienced in recent years is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our staff, our volunteers and our members,” Kristi said. Specifically, Kristi wanted to highlight the work of retiring Vice President Chris Brown and Company Secretary David Shanley.  “Chris was instrumental in helping in the Association’s transition after GM Neil Goffet’s resignation late last year, and Dave has played a key role in helping attract the $25 million for a new stadium.  Both Directors have put in a mountain of work” she said.

We welcome three new members to the Board: Tony Guihot, Cindy Mascord, and Bernadette Schmidt.  At the conclusion of the AGM the newly elected Board voted in Erica James as President, Larry Davidson as Vice President, and Jaclyn Mottram as Finance Director.  Newly elected President Erica James shared that the “Directors are looking forward to working with Matt and the staff, and our extensive network of volunteers to ensure Newcastle Basketball is financially sustainable and successful both on and off the court.”  The new Board are assessing priorities for action and co-ordinating opportunities to meet with members. Further details will be announced next week.

Note:  Following the AGM Chris Brown stepped down as a Director and David Shanley resigned from his role as Company Secretary.
